Our Erasmus+ teacher training courses help you do exactly that. You’ll discover and practise new teaching methodologies, whether for primary or secondary level, gain an understanding of how to combine language and subject teaching within a practical lesson framework, and explore a wide variety of practical tasks and activities that can be put to immediate use in the classroom.

 You’ll have a truly memorable time on our teacher training course in Galway on Ireland’s west coast. When you get here, you’ll discover the beauty of this vibrant harbour city and have the chance to really get to know Ireland as a local. 

 The school is just 50 metres from the beach, where you can get involved with lots of different water sports or just relax on the sand and watch the sea in between lessons.

Teacher Training: CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) – for anyone whose first language isn’t English and who teaches, or plans to teach, in English, and wishes to become confident delivering a broad range of CLIL-based activities both inside and outside the classroom.

Teacher Training: General English & Technology – for anyone whose first language isn’t English and who teaches, or plans to teach, in English, and wants to gain an understanding of how to use technology to deliver high-quality, dynamic and varied lessons.

Teacher Training: General English & Drama, Music & Culture – for anyone whose first language isn’t English and who teaches, or plans to teach, in English, and is interested in developing young minds through exploration, discovery and creativity.

Teacher Training: General English & Academic Writing & Presentation Skills – for third-level lecturers whose first language isn’t English and who teach, or plan to teach, in English, and wish to improve their overall performance delivering lectures, presentations, creating academic documents and have an introduction to writing articles for publication.

What is Erasmus+ English teacher training?

Erasmus+ teacher training courses are educational programmes promoted and supported by the EU. They provide teachers with a chance to expand their language skills, pick up new ideas and practices, and build relationships with peers.

Erasmus+ funding

ERASMUS, the European Union's flagship mobility programme in the field of education and training, was established in 1987, and Galway Cultural Institute has been an active participant in welcoming students to our school on Erasmus funded programmes. 

ERASMUS stands for "EuRopean Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students" and it was named after the philosopher, theologian and humanist Erasmus (1465-1536), who lived and worked in several countries in Europe, in quest of the knowledge, experience and insights which only such contact with other countries could bring. Originally part of the SOCRATES programme, Erasmus has, since 2007, been a subprogramme of the EU's Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP).
