This GCI course is designed to improve students' English knowledge & competence level and boost skills for the exam. All of our teachers are highly experienced and we use the best and the most up to date exam preparation materials. You are encouraged to take full advantage of their study time in Galway with exam-taking tips, independent study tasks and a wide variety of self-access options. When you arrive at GCI, you will receive:

  • an Advanced exam course book - used for all lessons and home study tasks.
  • an Advanced language practice book - used to support your lessons and for self-study.

Throughout your 6 weeks with us, you will be developing your current English language skills, using tasks which follow the same format as the exam tasks. You will get the opportunity to practise all aspects of the Cambridge Advanced exam - Reading and Use of English, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Your lessons will introduce you to a range of new vocabulary on a selection of topics designed to assist you in your exam. Your present knowledge of grammatical forms will improve and you will receive constant support and personalised feedback from your teachers. During the course sample exam papers from Cambridge will also be completed and you will even take a mock exam under real exam conditions & timings.

As a result of our continuing commitment to the high exceptional materials, teachers and methods, our students enter the exam feeling prepared.  This will be shown in your exam results.

The majority of students sit the Cambridge Advanced exam at the end of their 6-week preparation course. Galway Cultural Institute is an authorised Cambridge English Test Centre. Our students are always pleased that they can take their exam in a familiar setting - here at our school in Salthill.
