Study English in Ireland | A Guide to Galway City

Galway City

From Lonely Planet to The New York Times, Galway has been voted the 'friendliest' and 'most charming' city by a number of famous publications around the world. Galway really is a place like no other to visit as a tourist, as a student studying an English language course at Galway Business and English School or embarking on a business degree course at Galway Business School or simply as a new comer commencing your dream job in one of the many local multinational companies.

Set on the Wild Atlantic Way, on the broad sweep of Galway Bay, Galway is as distinctive as it is beautiful.  We selected below some of the key visitor attractions and festivals that are popular with tourists and locals alike.

The official language of Ireland is Irish, but English is also an official language and many residents use both. If you would like to hear Irish being spoken, you can visit several places on the west coast of Ireland, specifically: Connemara, our own Galway city, Aran Islands (off Galway), West Kerry and West Donegal. People from these regions are also fluent in English and the area is known as the Ghaeltacht.
